We are going strong and reading all the books along the way. Anne Sullivan students have really stepped up their reading! We are up to 5,659!
Let's keep it going. Parents help remind your kids to read their books at home and mark it on their bookmark for Mrs. Yee! 📚📚

All of our Anne Sullivan students have worked hard this quarter and starting to prepare for state and spring testing!
We also had our Annual 5th Grade Student vs. Staff Basketball Game. All of the staff and students that participated played hard and had a lot of fun!
Reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday, March 20th! Enjoy the long weekend and the nice weather.

Anne Sullivan families, today, Friday the 13th of March we are sending home school devices in case of the upcoming snowstorm. As of now there WILL BE school on Monday the 16th. Another message will come if that changes.
When we return to school, please send the devices back with the chargers.
Thank you for your help!

March - "Everybody Reads" Update
We are at 31,703 books as a community!!🎉
This is a great start for our goal of 500,000 books by the end of the month!
Continue to encourage your child to read at home and bring their bookmarks to library with them to get it all counted. As of Friday, our school's total was 173 books!

This year's theme is Tales on the Trails. We will be keeping track of how many books we read throughout the month and marking our progress on a poster with the state of South Dakota map.
Our goal this year as a community is to read over 500,000 books. By doing this, we will be able to raise $1,700 for the nonprofit REACH Literacy program.
You can help by reading a book with your child at home, having them do some extra reading before bed, or asking them about all the books they have read at school!

Anne Sullivan families, when you come for parent-teacher conferences, don't forget to check out the Scholastic Book Fair in our school library. There are a ton of great books for all ages, small toys, posters, and more!

Time slips have come home, and schedules have been created for your child's teacher, if you do not know the time please reach out to the school. We would LOVE to have everyone come in, see the school, and hear about the great things your child is doing and learning!
Conferences this spring will be THIS Thursday, February 26th, 2026, from 3-7pm and next Monday, March 2nd, 2026, from 12-7pm.
Again, please call the school at 605-367-6084 if you are not sure of your child's conference time!

4th Grade DAPA play!
Last week the "Spotlight Theatre from the Washington Pavilion came to share they play with our 4th grade students. The play was called, "Monster in the Mirrow" it was about cyberbullying, seeing people for who they are, and forgiveness.
Parents: Cyberbullying is a growing issue as technology becomes more and more accessible to youth audiences. A 2022 poll from the Pew Research Center states that 46% of US teens have experienced some sort of cyberbullying. There are many sources on how to spot cyberbullying and ways to help students heal from cyberbullying and the surrounding feelings that may come with.
Common Sense Education has an abundance of sources to build internet literacy with students and spot cyberbullying. School Safety also has sources on how to prevent cyberbullying. Check out the links below to utilize these resources!

Last week before the long break all our students got to celebrate with a little Valentines Day fun. From class movies to games with friends and all the snacks, students had a great time! It was a great day to spend time celebrating all of our learning and fun as a school.

Anne Sullivan parents, there is no school on Monday, February 17th and Tuesday, February 18th!

Our 4th grade students have been working hard the last few weeks to research and write about different countries. They took that work and created a nonfiction PowerPoint to show their learning. Parents were invited in to come and listen to these presentations. It was a great time by all!

Both Mr. Jensen and Mrs. Copple work hard every day to support all of our Anne Sullivan students but in and out of the classroom. School Counselors have a tremendous impact in helping students achieve school success, feel safe at school, and build problem solving skills and peer interactions.
If you see them around the building or out on the playground, take a moment to say Thank you!

Let's take a moment to say congrats to our teachers that were nominated for "Teacher of the Year" with the Sioux Falls School District. These four teachers are amazing and work so hard each day to help our students learn and grow!

Tomorrow have your students get on their devices to check any messages from their teacher, work on iReady math and Lexia reading!
Thank you and stay warm!

iPads and Chromebooks were sent home with each student earlier today. We will not have in-person learning in the schools, but students are expected to connect to their Canvas account from home for assignments and learning resources. They have practiced this at school and know what is expected of them.

Parents, take a moment to ask your child how they did on their reading and math tests. Students are setting goals, checking scores, and making progress each day!
