September is suicide prevention awareness month. During September and all year long, let's look out for each other. Let's realize that someone close to you- or even you-may be struggling and going through a difficult time. Don't just keep it inside and then later wish you would have done or said something. If you're worried about someone who might be thinking about suicide, know it's ok to ask a question. If you don't feel comfortable asking them directly, ask a trusted teacher or counselor. Please- if you see something, say something. This month, we'll be giving you tips and reminders about how you can help all students safe. If you have questions or concerns about thing - please stop down and see your school counselor.

Each year the SD State Library, a division of the SD Dept. of Education, recognizes school libraries as Effective, Enhanced or Exemplary, based on the performance in three areas: The Place (physical and online learning environments), The Program, and The Professional. Roosevelt Student Council hosted its first ever Rider Runway on Tuesday, which was a great success and kept everyone laughing. In third place, Steven Harmon (AKA Bob Ross) painted us a beautiful portrait of an audience member. Runner-up, Nick Logue (AKA Napolean Dynomite) wowed the crowd with his dance moves. But, Lily Fenicle's impressive gymnastics routine one over the judges and crowd, earning her the crown. Thank you to our senior contestants for putting on a hysterical performance!

Student Leadership took a quick field trip to the University of Sioux Falls to visit with part of their leadership team, learn about foundational leadership, and discover individual leadership values. The students listened to speakers, participated in leadership activities, and toured USF's facilities.
Thank you, Dr. Kama Konda-Varilek, for hosting our students!

Roosevelt's student leadership's last speaker of the year was Dr. Jane Stavem, Superintendent of the Sioux Falls Public School District. This past Thursday, Dr. Stavem provided insight on developing the leader within and encouraged students to face their fears and embrace opportunities.
Thank you, Dr. Stavem!

For the second year in a row, the Sioux Falls School District is proud to be called one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association for Music Merchants Foundation. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the commitment of our students, and to the close ties that have grown together over the years in our music education community. As we celebrate this recognition, let us also celebrate the power of music to inspire, educate, and unite us all.

Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️
