Art Wars was this past Friday!
RHS sent 18 students to Vermillion to participate in a full day of art in a competition setting. There were 5 categories to choose from, including Painting, Drawing, Photography, Ceramics, and Digital Art. Each kid chose two categories and had 2 hours for each category. It was intensive and challenging, but everyone thrived. There were over 160 students from 8 different schools. We represented well.
Faith Keenan placed 1st in Ceramics
Cadence Baxter placed 2nd in Drawing
Emily Stripe placed 2nd in Digital Art
Penelope Vine placed 3rd in Digital Art

Attention all 8th graders going to Roosevelt! Connections is a great opportunity for incoming freshmen to get a jump on high school. Students will learn the ins and outs of Roosevelt and earn 0.5 credits towards graduation (that is the same amount that you earn for a semester long class!). Start their high school experience off on the right foot by enrolling in Connections! Space is limited.

Friday, January 23, 2026, will be a Remote Learning Day in the Sioux Falls School District!
iPads and Chromebooks were sent home with each student earlier today. We will not have in-person learning in the schools, but students are expected to connect to their Canvas account from home for assignments and learning resources. They have practiced this at school and know what is expected of them.
Additional information for Students and Families can be found here: https://app.smore.com/n/wgz62

Roosevelt High School's Activities Director, Steve Moore, visited with Student Leadership last week and discussed key aspects of leading within education. Mr. Moore shared stories, quotes, and mindsets that have guided him in building positive relationships with others as a leader in multiple school districts. Thank you, Mr. Moore!

William Ristau, Christa Heikkila, Andrew Garcia Enriquez , Natalee Stricherz and Neliea Daws (both not pictured) achieved a perfect score on the South Dakota Science Assessment!
Only 33 in the entire state were able to achieve this and five of them were Roosevelt Rough Riders! We are so proud of each and everyone of you! Way to represent RHS! Congratulations!
